Keeping Your Teen Occupied

One of the most challenging things that you will have to deal with is keeping your teenager occupied during the summer holidays and most importantly, keeping your teenager away from his or her phone, tablet, ipad or computer. Sadly, most teens today are completely addicted to technology which means that your teenager is likely going to spend a majority of his or her holidays glued to his or her smart phone, tablet computer,
ipad or laptop. However, this is a very important time in your child’s life and therefore, you could enroll your teenager in a programme that will help him or her in future like.

Choose a programme or study

You can get your teenager involved in choosing what he or she will attend during the holidays however, it is important that you do not give them too much of freedom in order to choose not to attend at all. Some interesting and very useful programmes include fire warden training, sport and self-defense classes, especially for a girl.

In fact, if your teenager is a girl, you might want to include self-defense classes along with whatever other course she chooses because we live in a very dangerous world and this could and will come in useful one day. Other interesting programmes of study include first aid courses which again can come very much in use one day.Although your teenager will disagree, it might even be a good idea for you to try and implement a no technology rule during the holidays with a one hour space during which you children can choose which of technology they want to use. Although your child will be very unhappy with this rule, it is an important rule because addiction to technology is extremely bad and it can have dire and dangerous consequences if your child starts talking to the wrong people on the internet. There are many child predators on the internet that pretend to be young children in order to befriend them. They study their likes, their dislikes and their habits in order to be believable. Letting children and teenagers use technology and the internet can make them victims of these dangerous people. Another great idea is to get your child involved with a sport which will eventually take all of your child’s time and cause your child to eventually forget his or her addiction to the internet. However, you as a parent are responsible for making sure this happens. Getting involved with a sport is also great for your child’s health and physical wellbeing.
